Carl Sandburg High School Scholarship Program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Show/Hide

The Andrew Family Foundation Scholarship was established at Carl Sandburg High School in 1998 to recognize an outstanding young man and young woman in the senior class. These students will be recognized leaders in scholastic, athletic, co-curricular, and civic endeavors. Most importantly, the recipients will be the students who served as role models for their high school peers and who will most likely continue to be role models during college and throughout their lives.

Ed and Edie Andrew's five children attended Carl Sandburg High School between 1972 and 1984. All five were active students and leaders during their high school years &endash; participating in athletics, music, student government and various other student activities. All earned undergraduate degrees from liberal arts institutions where they again accepted leadership roles and participated fully in college life. Members of the family also pursued graduate education and combined have earned three Masters Degrees and a PhD. The Andrew "children" and their spouses are now active in their respective communities. In addition, through the Andrew Family Foundation, they provide financial support to qualified organizations in the areas of education, human services, and arts and science, particularly for children.

While several family members now reside away from the Orland Park area, the Andrew family feels indebted to Carl Sandburg High School for its role in their lives and development. The Andrew Family Foundation wishes to encourage students to lead their peers in academic and civic achievement, and to reward them for doing so.
